01Agreement to these terms
These Terms apply to the Catalogie marketing site (catalogie.com) and the app (https://app.catalogie.com/). They work alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data. If you do not agree to either, do not create an account or use the service.
02Who can use Catalogie
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent where you live (for example, 16 in parts of the EEA), and able to enter into a binding agreement. If you use Catalogie on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are authorized to accept these Terms for it.
03Your account
You are responsible for your account and for keeping your password safe - please use a strong, unique one. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account, so let us know straight away if you suspect unauthorized access. Keep your account details accurate, and do not share your login. We may suspend or limit accounts that break these Terms or put the service at risk.
04What Catalogie is
Catalogie helps you track and organize the media you watch, play and read. It is an independent product under active development, so features may be added, changed or removed over time. Much of the catalog data comes from third parties and may contain gaps or errors. We work hard to keep the service available and fast, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
05What it costs, future changes and Founding Members
Catalogie is free to use, forever. Every feature is available to every account at no cost, with no trial period, no credit card and no expiry. We do not ask you for payment details, and nothing in the service is locked behind a purchase.
Running Catalogie has real costs - servers, storage, catalog data and email. To keep the service running we reserve the right to introduce paid features in the future, and equally to introduce advertising, either alongside paid features or instead of them. If we ever do either, we will inform all users clearly and in advance, in the app and by email, before the change takes effect, and we will update our Privacy Policy first to explain what it means for your data. No account will ever be charged automatically or without you knowingly choosing a paid option, and if you do not want to pay you will still be able to use Catalogie, export everything you have tracked, and close your account at no cost.
Whatever we do to fund the service, we will not sell your personal data and we will not hand your catalog to advertisers or data brokers.
Founding Members are permanently exempt from charges. The first 1,000 people to create an account become Founding Members and receive a permanent "Founding Member" badge and profile title, as long as the account remains in good standing. If a paywall is ever introduced, Founding Members will not be charged a cent for it and will keep full access for the life of the service. This is a commitment we intend to honor permanently. It is personal to your account, and is not transferable or redeemable for cash.
If and when paid features are introduced, the billing terms - including renewals, refunds and taxes - will be shown to you at the point of purchase and will form part of these Terms.
06Your content
You keep ownership of the content you create in Catalogie - your notes, reviews, comments and uploads. You grant us the limited permission we need to store, process and display that content solely to run the service for you, such as showing your profile or a shared entry to the people you choose. You are responsible for what you upload and post, and you confirm you have the right to share it.
07Acceptable use
To keep Catalogie safe for everyone, you agree not to:
- break the law or infringe anyone else's rights, including intellectual property rights;
- upload malware, or illegal, hateful, harassing or abusive content;
- scrape, overload, probe, disrupt or attempt to attack the service or its infrastructure;
- bypass rate limits, authentication or other security measures;
- impersonate others or misrepresent who you are; or
- resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the service without our permission.
We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules.
08Third-party data and content
Movie, TV, game and book metadata and artwork are provided by TheTVDB, IGDB, RAWG, OMDb, Google Books, TMDB and Open Library, and remain the property of their respective owners, used under their terms. Catalogie is not endorsed by or affiliated with them, and attribution is shown where their data appears.
09Our intellectual property
The Catalogie name, logo and the design of this site and app are ours. Catalogie's application source code is open source and available at our public repository; your use of that code is governed by the license stated there, not by these Terms.
10Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that catalog data will be accurate or complete. Please keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
11Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Catalogie and the people who operate it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
12Suspension and termination
You can stop using Catalogie and delete your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, or where necessary to protect the service or other users. When your account is deleted, your right to use the service ends and your data is removed as described in the Privacy Policy.
13Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the product and the law evolve. If we make a material change, we will let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use Catalogie after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms, and the "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
14Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Catalogie is operated, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Where you benefit from mandatory consumer-protection rights under the law of your own country, nothing in these Terms overrides them.
